US Veteran Hospitalized After Barricading Himself in Adjuntas Home

A US Army veteran who barricaded himself in his Adjuntas home on Thursday afternoon, while police investigated a complaint about a foul odor, is receiving medical attention in a hospital. According to the police report, officers from the Adjuntas district arrived to investigate the complaint and the veteran barricaded himself inside the house, armed. The Police Negotiation Team, SWAT unit, Fire Department, and paramedics were deployed to the scene to handle the situation in a coordinated manner and ensure everyone's safety.

After a negotiation process led by Lieutenant Joel García Echevarría, the veteran voluntarily exited the residence. He received medical assistance on the scene and was later transferred to a hospital for evaluation. As part of the intervention, authorities seized several firearms and ammunition, which were taken into custody as part of the investigation.

No one was injured, and force was not necessary, allowing the incident to be resolved peacefully and safely, according to the Police.
