Adjuntas is a small mountainside municipality in the central midwestern part of Puerto Rico, situated on the Cordillera Central in the South region of the island. It lies inland, about 46 miles (roughly two hours by car) from San Juan, and is bordered by Utuado to the northeast, Lares and Yauco to the west and south, and Ponce to the southeast.
The town is organized into 16 barrios plus Adjuntas Pueblo and spans about 108 square kilometers, with a population of approximately 18,020 as of 2020. Founded in 1815, Adjuntas retains a mountain character shaped by its location within the Cordillera Central.
Its cultural life centers on the Museo Casa del Pueblo, while its landscape draws on the surrounding highlands, including Monte Guilarte and Cerro El Gigante, as well as an outdoor observation platform and amphitheater.
