Luis Rodríguez Díaz, the former president of WIPR, won the primary election for the Municipal Presidency of the New Progressive Party (PNP) in Luquillo with 67% of the votes, defeating his opponent who received 33%. Rodríguez Díaz stated that the result represents a mandate to work towards a Luquillo where citizens feel heard, with excellent municipal services, and more opportunities for families.
He extended his hand to all progressives, calling for unity to win back the mayor's office and build a better future for the town. Rodríguez Díaz also invited all Luquillo residents, regardless of political affiliation, to work together for a municipality with more opportunities, economic activity, and a better quality of life.
The election was seen as a victory for unity, respect, and hope for a strong and organized PNP.
