Plena Libre Brings Puerto Rican Flavor to Madrid and Paris

Updated Jun 28, 2026 · via Primera Hora

The Puerto Rican group Plena Libre has returned to Puerto Rico after a successful artistic tour in Madrid and Paris, where they brought traditional island rhythms to international stages. The tour continued the group's efforts to internationalize plena and strengthen their presence in cultural markets outside of Puerto Rico. The visit coincided with Bad Bunny's historic 10-concert residency in Madrid, which attracted hundreds of thousands of people from around the world.

Plena Libre performed at Florida Park in Madrid's Parque El Retiro as part of the La Gran Cucaracha – Un Ratito Más Festival and participated in promotional activations and cultural events. They then traveled to France to be part of the Fiesta Latina at Disneyland Paris. The group's presence allowed them to introduce new audiences to one of the most representative genres of Puerto Rico's cultural identity.

According to LuisGa Núñez, director of Plena Libre, the experience was extraordinary, with their music evoking curiosity, emotion, and a desire to dance in both Spain and Paris. The tour marked the group's official debut in Spain and a new chapter in their international trajectory, which has spanned over three decades of bringing plena and Puerto Rican music to stages around the world.
