A 44-year-old man, Aneudi Caraballo Filomeno, was identified as the victim of a homicide in the Reyes sector of the Cambalache neighborhood in Canóvanas. According to preliminary police reports, the incident was reported at 1:40 p.m. on Monday, with the body found with gunshot wounds near a residence on PR-962, kilometer 2.5.
Caraballo Filomeno, a Canóvanas resident, had a prior record, including a 2017 charge for violating the Controlled Substances Act, with the case's disposition unknown. Agent Carlos Corchado Sierra of the Carolina Criminal Investigations Corps' Homicide Division, along with prosecutor Yolanda Morales, are investigating the crime.
The motive behind the homicide has not been established.
