A 40-year-old man, Omar Aponte Vellón, was shot and killed in front of a residence in the Buena Vista neighborhood, sector 7 Cuerdas, in Humacao, according to the Police. The incident occurred on Thursday night at around 11:40 p.m. after a call to the police station reported shots fired in the area.
Aponte Vellón, a local resident, had a criminal record for domestic violence, illegal appropriation, and aggravated assault. The disposition of these cases in court is unknown.
Agent Miguel A. Sánchez Rivera of the Homicide Division of the Criminal Investigations Corps (CIC) in Humacao, along with prosecutor Pedro Anca Vélez, are in charge of the investigation.
