Updated Jul 1, 2026 · via El Nuevo Día

Approximately 10,000 pounds of humanitarian aid were sent in the first flights from Puerto Rico to Venezuela for survivors of the recent earthquakes. The effort is a joint initiative between celebrities, private companies, non-profit organizations, and the Puerto Rico government.

Participants include former MLB player Yadier Molina, singer Tito 'El Bambino', and pastor Héctor Delgado, as well as influencers Isander Pérez and Michael Flores. Companies Aerostar and Grupo VRDG covered the cost of sending the planes, which will transport essential items from Puerto Rico.

The first flight, carrying 3,000 pounds of cargo, departed from Isla Grande Airport to Valencia, Carabobo, while the second flight, with 7,000 pounds of cargo, left from Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport to Simón Bolívar Airport in Maiquetía. The aid efforts come after two earthquakes, measuring 7.2 and 7.5, struck Venezuela, resulting in 1,943 deaths, 10,571 injuries, and tens of thousands displaced or missing.
