The Universidad Albizu has activated its Clínica Albizu to provide free psychological support and emotional accompaniment to Venezuelan citizens living in Puerto Rico. The services will be available in person or virtually at the university's San Juan and Mayagüez campuses. Interested individuals can schedule an appointment by calling 787-941-2371. The initiative aims to provide a space for professional guidance and support to those experiencing anxiety, stress, grief, or other reactions related to the crisis in Venezuela.
The university is also coordinating with the president of the Federación de Psicólogos de Venezuela, Dr. Clara Astorga, to organize a humanitarian mission to Venezuela, where a team of psychologists from the university will collaborate with local professionals to provide psychological support. The team, composed of ten doctors in psychology, will work with Venezuelan colleagues to offer direct psychological support in affected communities and develop a training program for professionals who will accompany the population during the recovery process. According to Dr.
Nelson E. Soto, president of the Universidad Albizu, the university is committed to sharing its experience and working with Venezuelan colleagues to support the country's recovery and providing a space for Venezuelans in Puerto Rico to receive support and accompaniment.
