The Institute of Forensic Sciences (ICF) announced that the Human Identification Unit (UIH) successfully identified the human remains of two individuals found in Villalba and Yabucoa. In Villalba, the remains of 87-year-old Ángel Manuel Vázquez Burgos, who had been missing for two years, were identified through the analysis and comparison of body radiographs with the found remains.
Vázquez Burgos was reported missing on June 24, 2024, and an Ashanti alert was activated to locate him. In Yabucoa, the remains of 50-year-old Dionicio Mojica Montañez were identified, also through radiograph comparison.
Mojica Montañez's body was found in a state of decomposition on June 18, and neighbors had suspected it was him due to the location and circumstances. The causes of death for both individuals have not been disclosed.
