Updated Jul 5, 2026 · via El Nuevo Día

Rosachely Rivera Santana, the Secretary of State, arrived in Venezuela on Sunday to oversee the delivery of humanitarian aid sent from Puerto Rico to communities affected by recent earthquakes. The aid includes rescue equipment, lanterns, camping tents, medications, and other essential items.

Rivera Santana met with Father Enrique 'Kike' Camacho, executive director of Cáritas Puerto Rico, who is coordinating the distribution of supplies with Cáritas Venezuela. The Department of State and the Department of Public Safety are working together with federal authorities and non-profit organizations to prioritize the needs of the affected communities.

Additional flights with humanitarian aid are expected to depart from Puerto Rico in the coming days. Puerto Rico has already sent several shipments, including a donation of 42,000 pounds of supplies from singer Bad Bunny, which was publicly acknowledged by Venezuelan President Delcy Rodríguez.
