The Homicide Division of Vega Baja's Criminal Investigation Corps (CIC) confirmed the reclassification as murder of a case involving an 80-year-old woman, Ana Delia Rivera Rosario, who was struck with a pipe during a family altercation on May 21 along PR-644 in the Pugnado neighborhood of Vega Baja. According to preliminary information, the victim's husband said his brother, José Abraham Ramos Carrión, threatened him with a pipe at his residence, and when Rivera Rosario intervened, she was struck in the left side. She was taken to a hospital where doctors diagnosed a possible fracture and internal injury.
She later died on June 9 at a residence in Morovis from the injuries sustained. José Abraham Ramos was arrested in connection with the incident and is currently facing charges for aggravated assault. The case was reclassified today in the statistics kept by the Center for the Analysis of Criminal Incidence and Crime Clearance, listing the motive as a fight and argument.
The case will be referred to prosecutors for the filing of new, updated charges.
