Police from the Vega Baja Criminal Investigation Corps (CIC) homicide division are investigating the death of an 80-year-old woman, Ana Delia Rivera Rosario, in a case now reclassified as a homicide. According to preliminary information, on May 21 of this year, in the Pugnado neighborhood of Vega Baja, the victim's husband reported that his brother, José Abraham Ramos Carrión, threatened him with a pipe on the property of his residence. When Rivera Rosario intervened, she was struck with the pipe on her left side, suffering a possible fracture and internal laceration.
She was taken to a hospital for treatment. Officials reported that she died on June 9, 2026, at a residence in Morovis. José Abraham Ramos was arrested in connection with the incident and had been charged with aggravated assault.
The case will now be reviewed for the possible filing of new, more serious charges following the victim's death.
