Chris McCullough scored a basket with 14 seconds left in the game, leading the Vaqueros de Bayamón to a 73-71 victory over the Gigantes. McCullough, who arrived on the island on Friday to replace Jae Crowder, had a strong debut with 21 points and 10 rebounds. The win tied the Conference A semifinal series 1-1.
The Vaqueros played with only two reinforcements after Crowder's unexpected departure. In another semifinal series, the Santeros defended their home court to tie the Conference B series 1-1 against the Capitanes de Arecibo, winning 83-79. Joel Soriano, Jacob Wiley, and Rigoberto Mendoza combined for 68 points for the Santeros.
The third game of both series will be played on Tuesday.
