18-year-old faces charges after police intervention in Bayamón

An 18-year-old, Raymond J. Andino López, faces several charges after a police intervention in Bayamón resulted in a pursuit and the seizure of a firearm and ammunition. According to the police, Andino López was driving a Fengyun Tank motorbike in the Plaza del Sol parking lot on Monday afternoon when he was stopped for allegedly not having the required safety equipment. When instructed to stop, Andino López allegedly fled, leading to a chase that ended on PR-167 at the intersection with Uruguay Street.

Andino López abandoned the motorbike and continued fleeing on foot. During the intervention, officers seized a package containing a Glock 19 pistol, 41 rounds of ammunition, and $217 in cash. Andino López allegedly did not have a license to carry the firearm. The motorbike was also seized.

Charges were filed against Andino López for alleged violations of the Weapons Law, obstruction or resistance to public authority, and aggravated damage. Judge Juan Portell of the Bayamón Tribunal found cause for arrest on all charges and set a $20,000 bond. Andino López posted bail and was released until the preliminary hearing.
