Drought Puts Water Supply at Risk in Six Municipalities

Published Jul 14, 2026 · via La Perla del Sur

The persistence of drought in Puerto Rico is putting the potable water supply at risk in several areas, prompting the government to evaluate new strategies to prevent reservoirs from reaching critical levels that would require service restrictions. Governor Jenniffer González Colón led a follow-up meeting on Tuesday to address the issue.

The drought affects the water supply in six municipalities, and the government is working to avoid imposing restrictions on the service.
