The Police are awaiting forensic results to confirm the cause of death of 81-year-old Lilliam Díaz Carlo, found dead in her home in Puerto Nuevo, San Juan, where she lived with her 54-year-old son. Lieutenant Arnaldo Ruiz of the San Juan Criminal Investigations Corps stated that they have interviewed family members and neighbors, including one who reported not having seen Díaz Carlo for some time.
Another person informed that she was hospitalized in April for a health condition. The authorities were alerted on Friday after someone tried to contact Díaz Carlo without success.
Upon finding the body, agents also found her son, who has intellectual disabilities, and he reportedly said he did not want to report the death because he felt ashamed that his mother had died in his care. On Monday, a court order was issued for the son to be admitted to a mental health institution for evaluation and care.
