Puerto Rico's women's softball team is competing in the WBSC 2027 Women's Softball World Cup in Lima, Peru, with the goal of securing one of two spots in the final phase. The team, ranked third in the world, will face Peru in their first match on Tuesday at 3:00 pm Puerto Rico time.
Coach David Santos stated that qualifying for the next phase in Australia is a main objective, and also important for their Olympic qualification hopes. The team has been preparing for this tournament and views it as a key step towards the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
Other teams competing include Japan, Great Britain, the Philippines, and Venezuela, all with the same ambition of reaching the final phase.
