Puerto Rico added another run in the second inning, and Alanah Rivera hit a solo home run in the fourth. Venezuela tied the game, but Ocasio's two-run double in the fifth put Puerto Rico ahead. The team scored three more runs in the sixth, and Venezuela added one in the seventh.
Ocasio pitched all seven innings, allowing seven hits and four runs, with four walks and four strikeouts. The loss went to Loreley Francia, who allowed seven runs and six hits in five innings. Puerto Rico will play the Philippines on Thursday at 1:00 p.m. local time.
