A 15-year-old boy was wounded early Tuesday morning after allegedly getting caught in the middle of a shooting at the Pedro Rosario Nieves public housing project in Fajardo, Puerto Rico Police reported. According to the preliminary investigation, a hospital called authorities around 12:15 a.m. to report the arrival of the teen with a gunshot wound to his left ear.
The boy's mother told police she was leaving her apartment with her children when she heard several shots fired from a moving vehicle, and it was at that moment her son was hit. The doctor who treated the teenager said he was in stable condition and was subsequently discharged.
The case has been referred to the Criminal Investigations Corps (CIC) in Fajardo for further investigation.
