A 42-year-old female cyclist, identified as Mayra Ortiz Madera, died after being hit by a Ford F-250 vehicle on PR-997, kilometer 4.2, in the Destino neighborhood of Vieques. The accident occurred at approximately 8:45 am on Wednesday.
According to preliminary information, Ortiz Madera suffered severe injuries from the impact and received medical attention before being transported to a hospital, where she later died. The driver of the Ford F-250 stopped at the scene and remained there while authorities conducted an investigation.
Agents from the Highway Patrol Division, along with the on-duty prosecutor, are handling the investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the accident.
