A 35-year-old woman was shot last night on Calle 4 in the Jaime C. Rodríguez public housing development in Yabucoa, under circumstances still being investigated, according to preliminary police information. The incident was reported at 11:15 p.m.
Sunday. The woman was standing in front of her home talking with a neighbor when she heard several gunshots, then felt a sharp pain and discovered she had a bullet wound in her chest. She was taken to a local hospital, where the doctor on duty diagnosed a gunshot wound with an entry hole and no exit wound.
She was subsequently admitted to the Centro Médico de Puerto Rico in Río Piedras, where she remains in stable/care condition. Officer Celidee Valles Ortiz referred the case to the Criminal Investigations Corps (CIC) of the Humacao area for further investigation. No suspect or motive has been identified.
