A 22-year-old man from Gurabo, Humberty Jesús Carrillo García, has been indicted by a federal grand jury for allegedly posting threats and violent messages on social media against law enforcement, military personnel, and religious communities. The indictment, released on Wednesday, includes five charges for 'interstate threatening communications' and alleges that between March and June, Carrillo García used TikTok and X (formerly Twitter) to post messages and videos expressing his intention to commit violent acts and encouraging others to do so. According to court documents, Carrillo García identified as a Nazi and expressed his desire to kill Jewish people, US soldiers, and other specific groups.
He also allegedly expressed his intention to commit a terrorist attack. The federal prosecution claims that Carrillo García posted photos of himself holding a knife and a machete, as well as videos encouraging violent acts against police, federal agents, US military personnel, and Jewish people. He also allegedly threatened to attack various installations, including the White House, Fort Buchanan, and several banks.
Carrillo García was arrested on July 20 and remains detained as the judicial process continues. If found guilty, each of the five charges carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison. The case was investigated by the FBI's Cybercrime and Violent Crimes divisions in San Juan.
