Vía Libre, a community initiative promoting physical activity, healthy coexistence, and well-being, is celebrating its first anniversary on the cable-stayed bridge in Naranjito. The celebration will take place on Sunday, July 26, 2026, from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., where attendees can run, walk, or bike while enjoying music, animation, and prizes. A 5-mile run open to participants of all levels will also be held.
The initiative is a collaboration between the Municipality of Naranjito and a group of volunteers led by Dr. Amanda L. Narváez, a chiropractor.
According to Naranjito Mayor Orlando Ortiz Chevres, Vía Libre has converted the bridge into a safe space for families to exercise and strengthen their sense of community. Dr. Narváez stated that the initiative aims to promote movement as a tool for health, prevention, and well-being, and that it has become an inclusive space for people of all ages, promoting active lifestyles and physical and mental health care.
