Naranjito will welcome the Christmas season on Saturday, November 21, with a celebration in its public plaza combining live music, typical gastronomy, crafts and family activities. The festivity begins at 5:00 PM with a parade and a performance by the Naranjito Bellas Artes Program, followed on stage by young local singer Taimary Rivera, Grupo Tradición Viva, Mariano Cotto y su Grupo, troubadour Juan Rosa and declaimer Manuel Rivera Cátala, plus Orquesta La Mulenze and Víctor Roque y La Gran Manzana.
Children can make Christmas letters in a workshop and deliver them to Santa Claus. Kiosks will sell roasted pork, coquito, tembleque and holiday desserts, along with crafts, and free sopón will be offered while supplies last. Mayor Orlando Ortiz Chevres invited families from Naranjito and neighboring towns to the celebration.
Activities continue on Sunday, November 22, from 1:00 PM, also in the plaza, marking the 202nd anniversary of Naranjito’s founding. Organized by the Grupo Museo Histórico de Naranjito (MUHNA), that day features Niños Trovadores de Naranjito, Grupo de Baile Mosaico, Trío Urbano, Mojito Isleño, Ají Caballero and Orquesta Concepto Clásico, with kiosks, artisans and local products. Both events are open to the public.
