A 22-year-old woman, Claudia Marie Pagan Vale, was assaulted early Friday morning in front of the La Candela business on José De Diego street in Mayagüez, according to the Police press office. The incident was reported at 4:16 a.m. and was initially investigated by Mayagüez municipal police.
Preliminary investigation by municipal police officer José Ortiz found that Pagan Vale alleged she was hit on the back of the head around 1:50 a.m. The perpetrator and motive are unknown.
Pagan Vale was taken to a nearby hospital for medical attention, and her condition is currently unknown. The case has been referred to the Mayagüez CIC's Assault Division.
