Journalists from El Nuevo Día were awarded during the 32nd edition of the National Journalism Award, given by the Association of Journalists of Puerto Rico (Asppro), at the San Juan Yacht Club. This year, 34 awards were given to outstanding journalistic works, selected by an independent jury of 12 communication professionals, including university professors. Gloria Ruiz Kuilan won the Press Interview category for her report 'Carlos 'Prieto' Ventura: a viequense heart that does not give up'.

The Asppro highlighted that the interview is 'a magnificent example' of in-depth reporting, showcasing Ruiz Kuilan's 'acuity and sensitivity' in tracing a dialogue with one of the historical protagonists of the struggle against the Navy. Additionally, a team of journalists, including Joanisabel González, José A. Delgado, Manuel Guillama Capella, Ruiz Kuilan, Keila López Alicea, and Benjamín Torres Gotay, won the Special Multimedia Report category for their work '10 years of the PROMESA Law'.

The jury praised the project's 'narrative quality', 'coherence', and 'organization', which offers a 'plural, documented, and contextualized vision' of the topic, integrating different narrative languages and interactive graphics.
