The La Plata reservoir has experienced a 60-centimeter drop in water level over the past week, according to the US Geological Survey (USGS). As of Sunday, the reservoir's water level was at 46.38 centimeters, down from 46.98 centimeters the previous Sunday. The reservoir is now 1.49 meters away from entering 'operational adjustment' levels.
The Autoridad de Acueductos y Alcantarillados (AAA) reported that 12 reservoirs, including La Plata, Carraízo, and Cidra, saw reductions in their water levels. Carraízo, which serves approximately 179,387 customers, entered its third day of rationing on Sunday, with a six-centimeter drop in water level. Cidra, serving around 14,537 customers, saw a two-centimeter drop and is currently in 'operational adjustment' but not rationing.
The AAA has divided Carraízo's service area into two zones, with each zone experiencing 48 hours without water service during rationing.
