The Puerto Rico Police canceled a Silver Alert issued Monday night for 75-year-old Norberto García Díaz, a patient with Alzheimer's who disappeared in Luquillo. García Díaz was found at Punta Bandera beach in Luquillo, reportedly in good health, and was to be taken to a hospital for a checkup. He had disappeared around noon on Monday from La Monserrate beach, where he was with family.
His daughter, Norma García Santos, reported him missing. The Silver Alert, created by Law 132-2009, aims to locate individuals with Alzheimer's or other dementias. The alert was issued by the Puerto Rico Police, who are responsible for determining its activation.
García Díaz is a resident of Maryland.
