The Invest 92L system has reduced its probability of cyclonic development to 20% due to unfavorable atmospheric conditions, according to the National Hurricane Center (CNH). Meteorologist Lee Ann Inglés Serrano from the National Meteorological Service (SNM) explained that some rain bands could still reach eastern and southeastern Puerto Rico between Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning.
The system is currently located 400 miles east of the Windward Islands and is moving towards an area with stronger winds and dry air, reducing its potential for organization. Initially, it was expected to become a tropical depression by this point, but it has not.
The change in the system's development has also affected the expected rainfall scenario for Puerto Rico, with the majority of the rain and thunderstorms now expected to remain south of the island. However, some detached rain bands could still reach the island, particularly as the system's humidity field extends over the region.
