According to Meteorologist Lee Ann Inglés Serrano of the National Meteorological Service (SNM), this Sunday is expected to be the rainiest day of the weekend in Puerto Rico due to a tropical wave increasing humidity over the region. The increase in humidity will start to be felt on Saturday, but conditions will be more favorable for rain on Sunday. Inglés Serrano noted that while it won't be raining all the time or in all places, there will be an increase in cloud cover.
On Sunday, a stronger southeast wind flow will favor the movement of showers from the east towards metropolitan area municipalities such as Canóvanas, Carolina, Trujillo Alto, San Juan, and Bayamón. Other areas that may experience precipitation include Las Piedras, Juncos, San Lorenzo, and Gurabo. However, Inglés Serrano warned that there is still uncertainty about where the greatest activity will be concentrated.
Although some rain may reach the Carraízo reservoir basin, Inglés Serrano stated that significant accumulations like those seen earlier in the week are not expected. Any precipitation in the basin would still be beneficial, she added. Before the significant increase in rain expected on Sunday, Saturday will be marked by heat and scattered showers.
