Police reported that a young man was fatally shot Sunday night at a residence on road PR-165, in the Mameyes sector of Toa Alta, Puerto Rico. According to a preliminary report, a call to the 9-1-1 Emergency System alerted police to the incident. Upon arrival, officers found the victim's body with multiple gunshot wounds.
The victim was identified as Ángel M. Astacio Flores, 20 years old. He was transported by paramedics to a hospital, where the attending physician certified his death.
Agent Mervin Castellano, assigned to the Homicide Division of the Bayamón Criminal Investigations Corps (CIC), and prosecutor Peter Cordero are handling the case. As of Sunday, police had reported 291 homicides so far this year, one fewer than the 292 recorded by the same date in 2025.
