The Puerto Rico men's national volleyball team defeated Canada in five sets, 25-22, 23-25, 25-23, 18-25, and 15-9, at the Norceca Final Six tournament in Ponce. This is Puerto Rico's second victory in the tournament, while Canada suffered its first loss. Klistan Lawrence led the Puerto Rican offense with 21 points, followed by Pedro Molina with 17 points and Pelegrín Vargas with 15 points.
The team will face Mexico on Tuesday at 8:00 p.m. Vargas stated that the difference between this match and the previous one was the ability to implement their own game plan. Molina recognized the quality of the Canadian team but highlighted the Puerto Ricans' ability to stay focused under pressure.
Canada's Daniil Hershtynovich acknowledged the challenge of facing Puerto Rico in their home court and stated that they need to evaluate and start again to figure out what they need to do to win.
