Puerto Rico Defeats Canada in Pan American Cup

The Puerto Rico women's national volleyball team defeated Canada in four sets on Saturday, maintaining their undefeated record in Group A of the Pan American Cup, held at the Domo de la Feria in León, Guanajuato, Mexico. The scores were 19-25, 25-23, 25-18, and 25-12. With the win, Puerto Rico improved to 2-0 and will rest on Sunday.

The team will face Nicaragua on Monday at 4:00 p.m. local time. Ivania Ortiz and Valeria Vázquez led the Puerto Rican offense with 17 points each. Talia Attieh was Canada's top scorer with 14 points, followed by Emma Boyd with 10.

Puerto Rico dominated in attacks, 50-49, and services, 6-5, while Canada led in blocks, 6-5. Canada committed 33 errors, while Puerto Rico had 18. According to Ivania Ortiz, the team's mentality is to start aggressively and execute their game plan, which they were able to do after a tough first set.
