The San Juan Court issued an order on Friday reiterating that the Puerto Rico Aqueduct and Sewer Authority (AAA) must comply with agreements reached with the Municipality of San Juan during an August 7 hearing. Superior Judge Anthony Cuevas Ramos wrote a one-page order stressing AAA's duty to promptly inform the municipality of any situation affecting San Juan's potable water supply. Citing the municipality's weekly report covering August 21–28, 2026, specifically a passage on page 9 beginning "At 6:07 p.m.," Cuevas Ramos warned AAA and its executive president, engineer Luis González Delgado, that the court will not allow the agreements from the August 7 hearing to be deregulated or relaxed under any circumstances.
The Municipality of San Juan said the order followed its notification to AAA of alleged noncompliance regarding incomplete operational information and valve manipulation affecting water distribution. AAA responded by announcing measures to address the municipality's concerns. Cuevas Ramos said future intervention should be unnecessary but warned there will be no tolerance for further noncompliance if proven.
Mayor Miguel Romero Lugo and the municipality had requested specific operational information about the water system serving San Juan.
