Judge Viviana Vélez Agosto of the Humacao Court found cause for arrest against Erick O'Neill Casanova Lozada, 27, a Yabucoa resident, in connection with a 2023 murder. Casanova Lozada faces charges of first-degree murder and violation of Puerto Rico's Weapons Law. During a Rule 6 hearing, the judge reviewed evidence presented by prosecutors, set bail at $200,000, and issued an arrest warrant, as he is currently being sought by authorities. According to a police investigation, the incident occurred on the afternoon of April 22, 2023, when Casanova Lozada arrived in front of the residence of José M.
Lebrón Sepúlveda, 45, in the Calabazas neighborhood of Yabucoa, where an argument broke out. The police report states he then pulled out a firearm and shot the victim multiple times in different parts of the body, causing his death. The case was investigated by Agent Miguel A. Sánchez Rivera, supervised by Sergeant Johan M.
Cantres Angleró, and directed by Lieutenant Glenda Román Villegas of the Homicide Division, with prosecutors Pedro Anca and Jaime Perea filing charges. Casanova Lozada has a prior criminal record for violating the Domestic Violence Prevention Law from 2022.
