Puerto Rico Police are investigating after a body was found around 9:20 a.m. Thursday in San Juan. Officials said the body was located inside a gray trash can with a black lid, on the balcony of a residence under construction on Calle Río Grande, in front of number 225, at its intersection with Calle Henna, in the Shanghái sector of Barrio Obrero.
The victim was later identified as Roberto Enrique Valentín Maldonado, 24, a resident of Trujillo Alto. Police reported he was found shot and without vital signs. During the preliminary scene inspection, agents observed a blood trail extending from where the body was found to the front of residence number 225.
Investigators also recovered bullet projectiles and dental pieces at the scene. The case is being handled by the Homicide Division of San Juan's Criminal Investigations Corps (CIC) and prosecutor María Sofía Cruz Colón. Police said Valentín Maldonado had no prior criminal record.
