Judge Beatriz Varela Ríos of the Carolina Court found cause for arrest against Yensuel Pizarro Morales for a traffic accident that killed a mother and two minors, the Puerto Rico Department of Justice reported. Pizarro Morales faces charges in the deaths of Angélica María Lebrón de Jesús, 42; her son Jeyden Bermúdez Lebrón, 14; and Kenny Yadiel Almonte Olea, 16, a friend of Bermúdez Lebrón. The crash occurred November 23, 2025, in Canóvanas at the intersection of highways PR-3 and PR-188.
Prosecutor Luis Rafael Carrau Lebrón of the Carolina District Attorney's Office filed three charges under Article 5.07(c) of the Vehicle and Traffic Law for allegedly causing the deaths, plus an additional charge under Article 5.07(a) for reckless and/or negligent driving. Varela Ríos found cause on all charges and set bail at $20,000; it was not immediately reported whether the defendant had paid it. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for September 16.
According to the investigation, Lebrón de Jesús was accompanying her son and his friend as they raised funds for a basketball team's sports trip when Pizarro Morales lost control of his vehicle and struck them. Lebrón de Jesús and Bermúdez Lebrón died at the scene; Almonte Olea died later at a hospital.
