Judge Rafael Lugo Morales of the Arecibo Court found cause for arrest against Roberto Samuel Meléndez Rosado, alias "El Moro," 25, in the killing of a coworker in Manatí on September 10, police reported. Meléndez Rosado faces second-degree murder and weapons law violation charges filed by prosecutor Ramón W. Allende Sánchez. The victim was identified as Ángel Figueroa Toledo, 30.

Lugo Morales found cause for arrest on all charges and set bail at $1.5 million; Meléndez Rosado did not post bail and remains in custody. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for October 1. According to an investigation by the Arecibo Criminal Investigations Corps (CIC) Homicide Division, Figueroa Toledo arrived at 4:00 a.m. at a bus stop in front of the Acrópolis sports complex in Manatí (PR-670 highway), where he was to be picked up by staff of the exterior maintenance company he worked for. The CIC said Meléndez Rosado and Figueroa Toledo got into an argument, after which the accused allegedly drew a firearm and shot him.

The victim died while receiving treatment at Doctor's Center hospital in Manatí. Meléndez Rosado was on probation from a prior weapons law case.
