Enid Ortiz Rodríguez, administrator of the State Insurance Fund Corporation (CFSE), announced the suspension of employment, as a precautionary measure, of George Enchautegui Ramos, supervisor of Radiology for the Carolina Region, after the Carolina Court of First Instance found cause for arrest on a charge of lewd acts. Ortiz Rodríguez said Enchautegui Ramos had prior complaints filed against him in 2016 and 2022, but investigations into those complaints found the alleged conduct could not be proven.
In a written statement, Ortiz Rodríguez said, "Since we became aware of this situation, we have acted responsibly and in accordance with established processes. Given the Court's determination, we will proceed with the suspension of employment as a precautionary measure while the judicial process concludes." Prior to the Court's ruling, the CFSE had already implemented measures to protect injured patients, including requiring that the employee not treat patients without being accompanied by health care professional staff.
The agency also took steps to ensure continuity of care for the injured worker involved in the case, including coordinating her appointments and providing escort by Corporate Security personnel.
