A man was shot and a small dog inside his vehicle was killed after another moving vehicle fired shots at him on PR-2 in Arecibo Saturday night. Preliminary information identifies the victim as Darrell Spalding Morales, 29, a resident of Cabo Rojo, who was driving a gray 2005 Mercedes Benz when an unknown moving vehicle opened fire on him. Spalding Morales was wounded and treated by paramedics, who transported him to a nearby hospital, where he was reported in stable condition.
The small dog traveling inside his car died in the attack. Police were alerted to the shooting through a call to the 9-1-1 Emergency System. No arrests have been reported in connection with the case.
Agent Manuel Piña Figueroa, of the Criminal Investigations Corps (CIC) in the Arecibo area, is leading the investigation.
