The Autoridad de Acueductos y Alcantarillados (AAA) will begin crediting customers for 'deficient service' on their bills by the end of the month, according to President Luis González Delgado. The credit amount has not been specified, and not all customers will receive the adjustment at the same time due to billing cycles. The credit is related to service disruptions, including breaks in the Superacuaducto and a 54-inch pipe, which affected water pumping in Carraízo in February.
González Delgado explained that the credit is based on a pattern of deficient services over the past year. The implementation of the credit will start in the upcoming week, and customers will see it on their bills as they are issued according to their billing cycles. Meanwhile, the government has maintained that the country is in a more stable situation regarding water supply due to recent rainfall, but the drought situation persists.
The water rationing implemented on August 7 for several areas, including San Juan, Loíza, and Carolina, remains in effect.
