Governor Jenniffer González Colón announced a credit for 37,000 clients of the Autoridad de Acueductos y Alcantarillados (AAA) affected by the lack of potable water service in recent months. The credit will apply to bills from specific sectors in San Juan, Carolina, and Loíza, including residential and commercial accounts. The measure establishes a credit equivalent to 50% of the bills corresponding to the evaluated periods and will be applied automatically to accounts that meet the criteria established by the AAA.
The AAA conducted an analysis of the affected areas and billing periods to determine which customers qualify for the benefit. The credit will provide direct relief to families and businesses that faced water service deficiencies. Two groups of customers were identified, with the first group receiving a credit for seven months: July 2025, October 2025, January 2026, February 2026, May 2026, June 2026, and July 2026.
The second group includes customers from various sectors in San Juan, Loíza, and Carolina. Governor González Colón stated that the credit represents a commitment to provide a concrete response to affected customers and that the government is working to address the situations affecting the water service, with an investment of $9 billion to transform the water infrastructure.
