Luis E. Castillo Figueroa, a 24-year-old man, was arrested in Ponce on Wednesday during a raid where authorities found documents allegedly certifying him as a medical professional, including a psychiatry certification and a Bachelor’s degree in Medical Sciences. However, the Police confirmed that Castillo had started but not completed nursing studies. The arrest was made after a confidential investigation led by agent Carlos J. Nieves Cortés, and a judge, Carlia N. Soto Padua, issued the warrant.
Authorities seized fake prescriptions, certifications related to a cannabis dispensary, and a merchant registration, as well as a stolen gun, ammunition, and various electronic devices. Castillo’s mother claimed he was studying medicine, but she was unaware of his alleged illegal practice as a self-proclaimed 'street doctor.' The case will be reviewed by the prosecutor for possible charges.
Castillo was found with a false identity as a medical professional, and his mother assured that she had no knowledge of his actions.
