Coamo Mayor Juan Carlos 'Tato' García Padilla announced that the urban hotel Posada San Blas is expected to be ready soon. However, the mayor highlighted that the main problem facing the municipality is the electrical infrastructure, which is unstable and prone to power outages, voltage interruptions, and burned-out streetlights. This issue affects security, both in terms of crime and road safety.
The municipality is waiting for a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to be signed to replace the streetlights, and is also working on replacing poles in poor condition. The mayor's agenda for this year includes the reconstruction of the Parque Pedro Miguel Caratini and the Coliseo Edwin 'Puruco' Nolasco, as well as the inauguration of the Posada San Blas hotel. The park and coliseum projects have already begun, with expected completion dates in early and mid-to-late next year, respectively.
The hotel is in its final stage, with an expected completion date of late October.
