A citizen shared a video showing a circulation that appears to extend from the cloud to the surface, which could resemble a tornado. Monzón stated that the National Weather Service (NWS) will determine if it was a tornado or a waterspout when they study it.
She noted that tornadoes are rare in Puerto Rico, but have occurred, citing an EF1 tornado confirmed in Arecibo on May 1, 2022. The NWS issued a heat warning for Friday, with heat indices expected to exceed 100 degrees Fahrenheit.
