According to data from the Compañía de Turismo, cruise passenger numbers in Puerto Rico grew 31.3% in the first seven months of the year, with 1.2 million visitors received. However, in July, passenger numbers dropped 28.1% to 82,316, the lowest for a July since 2024. The port movement increased 25.9% between January and July, with 394 ships arriving.
The 'homeport' segment saw a 72.3% growth, with 275,955 passengers between January and July, generating significant economic impact through hotel stays, restaurant consumption, and commercial activity. Luisa García Pelatti reports that the period from April to October is the low season for the cruise industry in the region, with many ships relocating to Europe for the summer season.
