The National Weather Service (NWS) issued a flood warning for several municipalities in northern and eastern Puerto Rico due to rain from increased humidity linked to a tropical wave affecting the area. Arecibo and Hatillo remain under a flood warning until 4:00 p.m., while Ceiba and Fajardo are under the same warning until 4:30 p.m. Both areas have already recorded about one inch of rain, with an additional one to two inches expected.
The NWS warned this additional rainfall would cause minor flooding and advised residents to stay alert to their surroundings and avoid driving on flooded roads. The agency also forecasts frequent passing showers during the day in wind-exposed areas, with rain and thunderstorm activity increasing in the afternoon, particularly over the interior and the western and northwestern parts of Puerto Rico.
