The Autoridad de Acueductos y Alcantarillados (AAA) will not reactivate water rationing plans in the metropolitan area despite the continued decrease in available water levels at the La Plata reservoir. Recent rainfall episodes have alleviated the situation, particularly in Carraízo. Carlos Pesquera stated that it is essential to continue reducing water consumption to minimize the decrease in water levels.
The Comité de Sequía, designated by Governor Jenniffer González Colón, will continue to monitor the situation, meeting every two weeks. According to the AAA's graph, Carraízo is at a safe level with 40.58 meters, while La Plata is under adjustment with 44.31 meters, a decrease of eight centimeters. The next meeting of the Comité de Sequía is scheduled for October 23.
Director of the Servicio Nacional de Meteorología Ernesto Rodríguez noted that the El Niño phenomenon may bring less humidity in the coming months.
