A car accident in Isabela, Puerto Rico, resulted in the death of 72-year-old Minora Corchado Vargas. The accident occurred on PR-2 at the intersection with PR-113, near 'Cara del Indio', at around 3:00 pm. According to the Puerto Rico Police's preliminary report, 30-year-old Nathaniel Beníquez, a resident of Isabela, was driving a 2008 sedan when he changed lanes without caution and collided with a 2015 Chevrolet Equinox driven by Marielis Galván Corchado.
The Equinox lost control, hit a concrete fence, and then crashed into a rock wall. The accident happened during rainy conditions. In addition to Minora Corchado Vargas, the driver and passengers Gladys Corchado Vargas, 69, Francisco Corchado Vargas, 70, and Griselle Corchado Vargas, 64, all from Isabela, were injured.
Minora Corchado Vargas later died from her injuries. Prosecutor Yashira Vélez Muñiz and Agent Daniel Rodríguez Serra, under the supervision of Sergeant David Pardo Maisonave, are investigating the case. Beníquez was given a breath test, which showed 0.00% alcohol in his system. The investigation is ongoing, and the vehicles have been impounded.
