A pregnant woman, Gendy Rivera Nevárez, and her husband, Carlos Meléndez Guadalupe, are in critical condition after a car accident in Manatí. They were traveling with their 13-year-old son when their vehicle, a Nissan Rogue, was struck by a Dodge RAM 1500 allegedly driven by Edward J. Rivera Cordero, 23, who ran a red light.
The family was returning home from a baby shower for Rivera Nevárez, who was seven months pregnant. An emergency cesarean section was performed, and the baby is reportedly stable, as is the 13-year-old son. The incident has left the community, including the family's church, in shock.
